John Haywood shares that his family background did not embrace playing for many reasons (Highlights)
On the latest episode of Roots Music Rambler Francesca Folinazzo and Jason Falls chat with John Haywood, an accomplished old-time banjo player and heavy metal band lead singer. He grew up in Floyd County, Kentucky, in a traditional mountain family, “up a holler.” He discussed his family background and how he stuck out as a musician in a family that did not embrace playing for many reasons.
He likened his education as a musician in that environment to a Star Wars analogy, which was quite appropriate.
